The Zone-tailed Hawk (Buteo albonotatus) is a medium-sized hawk of heat, dry elements of the Americas. It’s considerably related in plumage and flight type to a standard scavenger, the Turkey Vulture, and will profit from having the ability to mix into teams of vultures. It feeds on small terrestrial tetrapods of every kind. (from Birds of the World)
SIMILAR SPECIES
Whereas perching or flying round breeding areas, most frequently confused with Turkey Vulture, with which it associates, however Zone-tailed smaller, reveals broader, dark-feathered head, darkish trailing edge to underwing, extra bulging secondaries, and (though not at all times seen) mild tail-bands.

PERSONAL OBSERVATION ANECDOTES
In Costa Rica we noticed 1 Zone-tailed Hawk whereas we had been on the Tárcoles–Tour en Bote river journey.
