Collared Trogon is a standard trogon of humid lowland forests of Central and South America. This can be a comparatively small trogon. The males are vibrant inexperienced above, with a purple stomach; upperparts of females are brown. In each sexes the underside of the tail are barred black and white; this barring is especially slender within the northernmost subspecies, from Mexico south to Panama. (from Birds of the World)
SIMILAR SPECIES
The species which can be most just like Collared Trogon are Orange-bellied Trogon (Trogon aurantiiventris) of Costa Rica. Orange-bellied Trogon differs, because the identify implies, in its orange (not purple) stomach.

PERSONAL OBSERVATION ANECDOTES
In Costa Rica we noticed 2 Collared Trogons close to Copey de Dota whereas wanting (efficiently!) for a Resplendent Quetzal.
