Joshua Hren returns to debate his debut
novel, Infinite Regress.

“Within the years since his commencement from St. Marquis College,
Blake Yourrick has fled his household and Milwaukee, rotating from job
to dead-end job—working the Bakken oilfields in Dakota and even
signing on because the evening caretaker of a rural abbey graveyard. Deep
in scholar debt and estranged from his misanthropic, alcoholic
father, Blake is haunted by the reminiscence of his mom’s demise—and by
his relationship together with his school mentor, a defrocked priest named
Theo Hape, who is thought for his adventurous theological concepts as
nicely as for the uncanny, seductive energy he wields
over his college students. When Hape, studying of his former cost’s
determined straits, proposes a perverse alternate of providers, Blake
finds himself tempted to check the professor’s radical theories in
actual life. What follows is a metaphysical duel harking back to the
novels of Dostoevsky and Bernanos, pitting a modern-day anti-Christ
towards a reckless however resilient younger man and his well-meaning,

The e-book is especially well timed in its philosophical themes, as
it touches with regards to metaphysical deconstruction used as
cowl for sexual grooming on the planet of schooling.

Thomas and Joshua talk about the novel’s defrocked Jesuit villain,
the protagonists’ escape from a philosophy which makes good
depending on evil and so eliminates the boundaries between the 2,
the e-book’s themes of financial and metaphysical debt, its comedian
