In his new e book, The Stigmatists: Their Presents, Their
Revelations, Their Warnings, Paul Kengor provides a historic
overview of the phenomenon of the stigmata, focusing particularly on
one factor many stigmatists have in frequent: they obtain visions,
usually prophetic ones.
The e book devotes particular person chapters to seven canonized or
beatified stigmatists: St. Francis of Assisi, St. Catherine of
Siena, Bl. Anne Catherine Emmerich, St. Pius of Pietrelcina, St.
Faustina, Bl. Elena Aiello, and St. Gemma Galgani.
Kengor joins the podcast to debate the skepticism and assaults
many stigmatists (corresponding to Padre Pio) confronted from inside the Church,
the prophecies of Bl. Elena Aiello about Mussolini’s destiny, whether or not
St. Francis was the primary stigmatist in historical past, and what we
unusual Catholics can be taught from the visions and experiences of
the stigmatists.
