The vital theorists and social justice warriors try to
do to medieval research what they’ve carried out to different disciplines, and
when you don’t get on board, you’re a white supremacist. Over the
previous two years or so, the mob has focused College of Chicago
professor Rachel Fulton Brown, calling her a fascist, making an attempt to
intimidate her division into censuring her, and banning her from
convention classes. She joins me to debate her ordeal, why even
tenured professors are prepared to face up for unpopular truths,
and the stakes of the battle for medieval research.
