Image this: It is the Eighties, and you’re in a glitzy nightclub. Neon lights run alongside painted black partitions, a disco ball sparkles overhead, the fog machine is operating, the hair is huge and the eyeshadow is garishly purple.

That’s the place Los Bitchos need to take you with their new album, Talkie Talkie, which they envision as a fictional nightclub.

“I’ll go full Debbie Gibson,” says guitarist Sarah Petale. “Give me Tiffany. Give me, like, ’80s Madonna. I would actually take pleasure in for Duran Duran to be there.”

This ’80s membership additionally has a Latin twist because of a psychedelic cumbia compilation Sarah found known as “The Roots of Chicha” that made her need to begin the band within the first place.

On this session, Petale and bassist Josefine Jonsson of Los Bitchos clarify how they write, how their diverse backgrounds affect their sound, how they ended up working with Franz Ferdinand‘s Alex Kapranos on their debut album and why they have been so captivated by the ’80s whereas making this album.
