As quickly as Barry Keoghan might hop out of his Mad Hatter-themed getup for this 12 months’s Met Gala, the Irish actor threw on a comfortable tracksuit and a trusty pair of uptowns to hit the afterparties. Field-fresh white Nike Air Drive 1s are Keoghan’s sneaker of selection; he’s worn them to vogue weeks, musical festivals, and because it seems, most of his exercise classes.
On a latest episode of Advanced’s “Sneaker Procuring” video collection, the Oscar-nominated actor met up with host Joe La Puma to debate his footwear proclivities. After they broach the subject of Air Drive 1s, Keoghan admits—to La Puma’s shock—that he even wears the storied basketball sneakers to run.
“I am going operating in Air Drive 1s, and so they’re in all probability the worst to run in,” Keoghan says, including that he’s gone for six-to-seven-kilometer runs within the not-especially-bouncy AF1 Lows. However he doesn’t cease there. “I skip, I practice, the whole lot [in them]—I’m not even messin’. They’re simply cozy,” he says. “I put on them for the whole lot.”
He solely just lately obtained a pair of correct operating trainers, although he shares that when he put them on, “I used to be like, ‘This doesn’t really feel proper.’”
The Dublin native tells La Puma that he personally thinks the AF1 is one of the best shoe ever made, and that he wears them day-after-day. “I do the whole lot, even sleep in them,” Keoghan jokes. “No, I don’t sleep in them. I do get into mattress with them on, generally.”
LaPuma inquires additional, even referencing a scene in Spike Lee’s 1986 debut She’s Gotta Have It, when the digicam pans all the way down to reveal that Lee’s character Mars leaves his Jordans on whereas having intercourse.
“Totally different time, totally different story,” Keoghan demures. However there have been cases, he admits, when “I get onto the mattress with them on and be instructed off like, ‘Get these sneakers up and about.’”
