Beirut has launched a brand new track titled ‘Caspian Tiger’. The monitor was initially written as a part of the soundtrack Zach Condon composed for Swedish circus firm Kompani Giraff’s touring manufacturing A Research of Losses. Together with the discharge, Condon has introduced his first tour since 2019, a European trek that features exhibits in Utrecht, Brussels, and London. “After I was first approached about writing a soundtrack for a circus, a certain quantity of Elephant Gun period trauma initially got here speeding up,” Condon stated in an announcement. “I had been pigeon-holed for years as a whimsical circus waif, filled with sepia-toned photographs of penny farthings and maybe lion tamers with handlebar moustaches. It couldn’t have been farther from how I pictured the music I used to be making. I had been quietly avoiding the topic for years.”
“Ironic then, that I discovered Kompani Giraff’s mission so attractive, and writing one thing for acrobats to carry out so gratifying,” he continued. “Caspian Tiger was one of many first songs I wrote for the brand new album, with photographs in thoughts of the poor animals caged or combating in Roman colosseums. They’d been taken from the Asian steppes across the Caspian Sea and from as far east as Tashkent, an space I’ve been fascinated by for years. The sonic affect got here largely from choir music that I used to be obsessing over on the time. Maybe I subconsciously aimed to embrace and even enhance on the imagery I had been initially written off for.”
