Indigenous Artwork & Style Unite at PST Artwork Runway Present at The Getty


Indigenous artwork, style and expertise are blended in PST Artwork’s collaborative exhibition with Autry Museum of the American West, which got here to life in a runway present at The Getty in Los Angeles on Monday.

Titled “Fashioning Indigenous Futurism,” the present featured the works of Indigenous style designers Jason Baerg, Orlando Dugi, Jontay Kahm, Caroline Monnet and Jamie Okuma. The group introduced collections that fused collectively ancestral know-how with future-thinking designs. Their work was proven alongside an AR activation — “ReVolt 1680/2180” — created by Pueblo artist Virgil Ortiz, recognized for his pottery figures and immersive artwork.

The runway present “is a revolutionary second for all concerned and style arts, carving out house for Indigenous designers — North America’s unique high fashion creators,” stated the occasion’s organizer, style curator Amber-Daybreak Bear Gown, in an announcement. “This occasion redefines the way forward for style by fusing Indigenous data with cutting-edge design, pushing the boundaries of American type. It’s a daring assertion of Indigenous innovation, reclaiming and reshaping the style world for brand spanking new generations.”

Autry’s exhibition, open by June 21, 2026 in L.A., examines the rise of Futurism, the inventive and social motion, in modern Indigenous artwork. There are greater than 50 works on show, by artists that embody Andy Everson, Ryan Singer and Neal Ambrose Smith. The exhibit explores colonial trauma, various futures and showcases Indigenous applied sciences for a sustainable-minded future.

“By intermingling science fiction, self-determination and Indigenous applied sciences throughout a various array of Native cultures, Future Imaginaries envisions sovereign futures whereas countering historic myths and the continued impression of colonization, together with environmental degradation and poisonous stereotypes,” notes the Autry.

The style present is a part of Getty’s largest PST Artwork undertaking but, a sequence of exhibitions created in collaboration with numerous establishments in and round L.A. which are centered on exploring the intersection of artwork and science.
