Oakland-based artist Kathryn Mohr has introduced her debut album, Ready Room, arriving January 24 on The Flenser. The LP was written and self-recorded over a month in japanese Iceland. Hearken to the primary single ‘Pushed’ beneath.
Mohr made the brand new album “throughout the partitions of a disused fish manufacturing unit surrounded by distant nature,” in keeping with a press launch. “Mohr spent hours immersed within the writing and recording of this album in a windowless concrete room lit with a string of multicolored mild bulbs (which made their method into the album artwork), taking breaks to wander the manufacturing unit or disappear up the shoreline—subject recorder in hand. What got here out of these recording hours are songs impressed by horror as extravagant as limb amputation by a defective elevator and lyrics as maze-like and misguided because the torturous love and fears they depict.”
Mohr mirrored: “Music takes me out of my physique, immerses me in one other world the way in which a movie does. I start and finish in very completely different emotional states, doorways open the place there have been no doorways earlier than– that’s what I skilled making this document. If this inside motion is contagious, spreads to those that pay attention, then this was a document price creating.”
