The director of training coverage research on the American Enterprise Institute assume tank (AEI), Hess is the creator of many books, together with Getting Training Proper: A Conservative Imaginative and prescient for Enhancing Early Childhood, Ok–12, and School (Academics School Press, 2024), which he co-authored with Michael Q. McShane, and A Seek for Frequent Floor: Conversations In regards to the Hardest Questions in Ok–12 Training (Academics School Press, 2021), which he co-authored with Pedro A. Noguera.
Along with his work within the realm of coverage, he has taught highschool and faculty.
