RUFOUS-TAILED JACAMAR – (Species Account Weblog #111)

The Rufous-tailed Jacamar is a stupendous inhabitant of forest edges and clearings of Central and South America. Males are an iridescent coppery/golden inexperienced above with a white throat and cinnamon-rufous underparts. Females are a barely duller inexperienced and have a cinnamon-buff throat. Rufous-tailed Jacamars feed nearly solely on flying bugs, particularly dragonflies, butterflies and moths. (from Birds of the World)

PERSONAL OBSERVATION ANECDOTES
In Costa Rica we noticed a single Rufous-tailed Jacamar at Rancho Naturalista and a couple of extra close to Arenal Volcano NP.
